Privacy notice

Last updated 8 August 2026

The short version: this site has no database, sets no cookies, and runs no trackers. The only personal data involved is an email address you choose to give me, and you can have it deleted whenever you like.

Who's responsible

Jonny is the data controller for this site. For anything on this page — including access and deletion requests — emailjonny@jonnybuildstuff.com.

What's collected

If you subscribe to the newsletter

Your email address, and your first name if you give one. That's it.

If you fill in the register-interest form

Your email address, optionally your name, and your answers about what you're working on and what you'd find useful. You choose what to write — please don't include anything sensitive in the free-text boxes.

When you simply visit

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which records standard server log data including IP addresses to keep the service running and defend against attacks. IP addresses count as personal data, so it's listed here for completeness. There's no analytics product installed, so no per-visitor profile of you exists anywhere.

Cookies

None. This site sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts, which is why you haven't been shown a cookie banner — there's nothing to consent to.

Why I'm allowed to hold it

For email: your consent, given when you submit the form and confirm via the follow-up email. You can withdraw it at any time, and doing so is as easy as giving it — every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.

For server logs: legitimate interests, specifically keeping the site available and secure.

Who else can see it

Form submissions go directly from your browser to my email provider, which stores the mailing list and sends the emails on my behalf, under a data processing agreement. Cloudflare hosts the site and processes the server logs described above.

Note: the signup forms aren't connected to a provider yet, so no mailing list currently exists. This section will name the provider once one is in use.

Your data isn't sold, rented, or shared with advertisers. It won't be passed to anyone else unless the law requires it.

How long it's kept

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask me to:

Email jonny@jonnybuildstuff.com and I'll action it within one month — usually the same week, since it's one person and a small list.

If you think I've handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office atico.org.uk. I'd appreciate the chance to fix it first.

Changes

If this notice changes materially, I'll update the date at the top. The full history of this page is in the site's public git repository.
